The Rotation is 222 photographs taken with disposable cameras, which were offered for sale as prints within nine cycles of time; beginning july 22, 2018 through july 22, 2019.

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHS

This work explores the eye's boundary and allowance of another lens to report perception. Assuming time is a reliable tool, projects are approached which include studies of holes in: preservation, reclamation, red and green, water history, and presents atmospheric repetition of same-place-different-time (SPDT).

All photographs were taken with single-use cameras from 2017-2018. Scans were by Kubus Photo Lab, no editing required. Series printed by Jon DeCola.

ABOUT THE TOOL

Distributors aimed to provide direct vendors the option to participate in a recycling program for single-use cameras; i.e. fujifilm and kodak. 

Based on searches in New York City, none of the inquired film lab vendors participated within the years previous to or during offering THE ROTATION. Contact was made with PR of both companies, links to those programs details are now expired, and communications were not permissible to relay.

For one year (2017-2018) all processed disposable camera shells were collected from Kubus Photo Lab, including shells of everyone else that processed film there within that time.

In March 2021, having not had the capabilities to repurpose the shells within 3 years, cameras were submitted through the recycling program created by Commodity Resource & Environmental Inc. CRE is the only company that offers service to the public for recycling single-use cameras in the United States. At no cost to the participant, CRE sends boxes, covers shipping, and pays the client per pound for all cameras returned.
